Pin Seconds Grading

Pin seconds have minor imperfections and are grouped into 3 grades based on the defect/s (refer to image for examples):

  • B Grade: Very minor imperfections that are barely visible or not noticable. May include (but not limited to) light scratches on metal, slightly underfilled enamel, tiny speck of dust. Could easily pass as a first grade pin. (Best value in my opinion)
  • C Grade: Minor defects that may be noticed upon closer inspection. May include (but not limited to) specks of dust in enamel, slight offsets in screenprinting, etc.
  • D Grade: Minor defects and visible flaws, however often are not glaringly obvious. These may include:
    - Chips and/or shallow cracks
    - Dark specks or dust
    - Missing or discoloured enamel
    - Overfilled or underfilled enamel
    - Noticable offsets or smudged screenprinting
    - Scratches in enamel or metal, or unpolished metal
  • M Grade: Are not technically fault however the entire batch was made with incorrect design elements such as wrong colours

B Grade Pins:
Graded as B grade for one of the following reasons
a) There is actually nothing wrong with these pin seconds besides the enamel being very slightly underfilled for both rose gold and black nickel variants. However, unless comparing side by side, it isn't be noticeable. 
b) Tiny scratches (rose gold variant)
c) One eye is slightly overfilled (black nickel variant)
Overall, great value at 50% off the full price! 

C Grade Pins: 
Metal plating is slightly scratched (rose gold variant)
Metal lines are slightly thicker making the eye area too small and doesn't show the colour (black nickel variant)

B Grade Pins:
Small areas of broken or missing enamel (rose gold variant)
