Nugget is a biped Chihuahua with an enormous personality and an extraordinary ability to overcome whatever life puts in her way.
She was born into a hoarding situation and later entered the shelter system, where she spent approximately the first two and a half to three years of her life. Born without her front legs, Nugget was likely overlooked by potential adopters because of her unusual appearance and physical differences.
Eventually, she found her way to Big Guy Littles World Sanctuary, where she began a completely new chapter surrounded by safety, affection and people who recognised just how capable she truly was.
Nugget has never allowed her physical limitations to define her. She can walk and run on her hind legs, climb stairs with remarkable speed and even swim. Her determination, adaptability and confidence have made her a powerful example being handiCAPABLE.
More than an advocate for special-needs animals, Nugget has become an inspiration to people and pets around the world. Her story challenges assumptions about disability and shows that animals with physical differences can live active, joyful and deeply fulfilling lives.
Nugget is also famous for her remarkably human-like personality. She is affectionate, expressive, opinionated and not afraid to let you know when she disapproves of something. Her signature upright stance makes her look like a tiny meerkat, while her dramatic and sometimes judgemental expressions have become her trademarks.
Nugget’s appeal goes far beyond her appearance or online popularity. She embodies perseverance, resilience and adaptation. After spending years overlooked in a shelter, she became one of the sanctuary’s most recognisable and beloved residents - a tiny superstar who brings enormous joy to everyone who meets her.
